This may look like an old bollard but it is in reality an old hitching post for horse drawn carriages on West Ferry St.
Welcome to my Bollards of Buffalo Blog. Bollards come in many shapes and sizes and are used in many different locations to control the flow of traffic, protect buildings and other structures, they are also used in harbors to tie up marine vessels. I will be posting on a regular basis but not every day. I will be searching out all areas of Buffalo in the coming days. I will also post photos that are not Bollards but will be historic or interesting. I hope you will enjoy the Blog.

Skyway Pier wide view
This Bollard is fairly new. It was installed during the construction of the new cobblestone streets at the Erie Canal Harbor. The series of these good looking bollards protect the Skyway Piers from vehicles making a sort of sharp turn from Commercial St. on to Marine Dr.
These bollards are pretty recent, they are at the foot of Commercial St. They prevent anyone from driving off the road onto the stern of the USS The Sullivans.
