Future Bollard?

I hope not, just a canon on display at the wharf for Navy Week.

Navy Week is in full swing and I have some pics of The USS Hurricane. This is docked at the visiting ships dock at the Erie Basin.

Here we go with a couple of nice looking Hitching Post's on Porter Ave. These are made of granite and still have the hardware attached. A nice find since cars are always parked along this stretch of Porter.

Wow, talk about overkill. I spotted this mess at a strip mall in Kenmore. At closer inspection these are hollow rubber bollards surrounding some concrete bollards to protect a ground sign in the parking lot.

Oliver Hazard Perry, War of 1812 Hero. "We have met the enemy and they are ours..." after the Battle of Lake Erie, 10 September 1813." I leave it to your discretion to strike or not, but the American colors must not be pulled down over my head today."

It has been 199 years since Oliver Hazard Perry spoke those famous words "We have met the enemy and they are ours" 10 September 1813. A replica of the his ship the Brig Niagara will be in Buffalo this week for Navy Week, I will post some pictures later this week.

But back to the statue, it is in Front Park facing Lake Erie. It is surrounded by some very nice looking bollards all carved out of white marble. The base of this statue made of pink granite has some great detail on it along with a beautiful bronze rendition of Perry Himself. Dedicated on 9/25/1916

NEVER FORGET!

What a great find, I took a little ride to the Erie Canal along Sweeney St. Brand new bollards installed along the walkway. Nice detail on them plus the ball on top. The building is now Remington Lofts and The Remington Oyster Bar and Tavern.
