I noticed the English River lake freighter the other day. It was unloading cement at the LaFarge silos. This boat is owned by the LaFarge Cement Company.

I came across these when I was driving through the First Ward. I did not know what they were until I got really close. They are very old fire hydrants. They are not in use anymore because there are new hydrants closer to the curb. This is an old warehouse. Probably one of many as it is close to a rail spur and was in an area called the Ohio Basin. The Basin was filled with canals and docks that ran off from the Buffalo River. It has all been filled in and there is a park there now. I am happy to see these hydrants preserved as part of our industrial past.

I found two more Hitching Posts. These were on Porter Ave. It looks like these are made out of sandstone.

A nice looking sandstone bollard protecting a garage on Essex St. 

On my trip to City Hall I took some pictures around the square. The newly built US Courthouse has roughly over 200 bollards surrounding the building. Here are some nice modern bollards to complement the design of the building.  

I was down by City Hall and I snapped a few pics of Niagara Square. Some very cool looking bollards surround the McKinley Monument and the fountains. They look to be made out of marble with a copper covering. You have a 360 degree view of the surrounding buildings and it is quite a nice place to sit and relax.
