I took this yesterday afternoon at the Erie Basin, A calm late November sunset over Lake Erie, you don't get many of these at this time of the year.
Welcome to my Bollards of Buffalo Blog. Bollards come in many shapes and sizes and are used in many different locations to control the flow of traffic, protect buildings and other structures, they are also used in harbors to tie up marine vessels. I will be posting on a regular basis but not every day. I will be searching out all areas of Buffalo in the coming days. I will also post photos that are not Bollards but will be historic or interesting. I hope you will enjoy the Blog.

Just a quick post before Thanksgiving. Here are bollards that protect the entrance and support pillars inside the underground parking street of Mayfair Lane. This was built by one of Buffalo's most well known architects. EB Green designed the property and lived here. This is off of North St.

This slightly out of whack corner bollard belongs to part of the wall that surrounds Old County Hall on Franklin Street. The side walks have just been replaced so I think the bollard might have been knocked off it's base. There is some hardware on top so I also suspect these were also used for hitching posts.

Happy Veterans Day
This statue is dedicated to the Army, Navy, and Marines for service in the war with Spain, the Philippine Insurrection, and the China Relief Expedition. The statue is called The Hiker and was unveiled at a military parade held in Buffalo to honor the soldiers of the Spanish-American War. Happy Veterans Day to all who have served. It is made of Bronze and has a granite base, dedicated 5/29/1920

This is almost an exact replica of a bollard I posted about earlier on Bidwell Pkwy. This is from 1938, the other post was from 1950 so I guess the other post was a replica of this one. Well anyway both were on corners set back so I am guessing they are property line posts and not bollards in a true sense. This is on the corner of Lexington and Richmond.
