When I noticed this I thought it was in a very strange place. It is outside of a medical office on Maple Rd. in Amherst NY. This was all farm land so I suspect this was a hitching post or a mile marker. This was probably an old dirt road at one point so it's placement does make sense. I am glad whomever developed this land saw fit to leave it in place.
